1. Who We Are
ProofSafe is an Android application developed by LinksGroups Engine ("we", "us", "our"). The app helps individuals and professionals capture, organise, and verify tamper-proof photo and video evidence.

2. What Data We Collect and Why
Data stored locally on your device (we never see this):
- Photos, videos, and documents you capture or import
- Case names, descriptions, notes, and categories
- Voice memos recorded within the app
- Evidence audit log entries (who did what and when)
- Your PIN (stored as a one-way hash — we cannot recover it)
- App settings and preferences
Data sent to the ProofSafe server (only when you register evidence):
- Verification ID (a unique identifier for the evidence item)
- SHA-256 file hash (a mathematical code derived from the file — not the file itself)
- Capture timestamp
- Evidence type (photo, video, or document)
- GPS coordinates (only if location permission was granted — you can hide this from the public portal)
- Device model name (e.g. "Samsung Galaxy S24")
- Whether the item was imported from gallery (true/false)
- Whether fake GPS was detected at capture (true/false)
- App version number
We never receive the actual photo, video, or document file. Only the mathematical fingerprint is sent.
3. Google Drive Backup (Premium Only)
If you are a Premium subscriber and choose to enable Google Drive backup, evidence data is encrypted and uploaded directly to your own Google Drive account. We do not have access to your Google Drive, your Google account credentials, or the backup files stored there.
You can revoke ProofSafe's Google Drive access at any time via your Google Account settings at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
4. Location Data
ProofSafe requests location permission ("Allow only while using the app") to capture GPS coordinates at the moment you take a photo or video. This data is stored on your device alongside the evidence.
If you register evidence online, GPS coordinates are stored on our server but are hidden from the public by default. You can choose to make them visible on the public verification portal from within the app.
ProofSafe also detects whether your device is using a mock or spoofed GPS location (via Android's built-in mock location detection). This flag is stored with the evidence and sent to our server on registration.
You can deny location permission — the app will still work, but GPS coordinates will not be included in your evidence.
5. Advertising (Free Tier)
The free version of ProofSafe displays ads served by Google AdMob. Google may use your device's advertising ID to personalise ads. You can reset or opt out of ad personalisation in your Android device settings under Privacy → Ads.
Premium subscribers see no ads.
6. Analytics and Crash Reporting
We do not currently collect analytics or crash reports beyond what Google Play provides by default (anonymous aggregated statistics such as install counts and crash rates). We do not use Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar tracking SDKs.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. The only third-party data flows are:
- Google AdMob — for serving ads (free tier only)
- Google Play Billing — for processing Premium subscription payments
- Google Drive API — for your optional backup (Premium only, to your own account)
We may share data if required to do so by law or valid legal process.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
All evidence data is stored on your device. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all local data.
Data registered with the ProofSafe server (file hash, metadata) is retained for as long as your account is active or for 5 years, whichever is shorter, to support evidence verification requests. To request deletion of your server-side data, email support@linksgroups.com with your Verification IDs.
9. Children's Privacy
ProofSafe is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@linksgroups.com. We will respond within 30 days.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, displaying a notice within the app. Continued use of ProofSafe after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
